A Modern Guide to Astrology
Author: Juliana Mc Cathy
The book is about Western Astrology written by Juliana Mc Carthy. The book is more focused towards beginners. Someone who has limited or no knowledge about astrology can pick this book up and gain quite a lot of information.
The book is not focused more on predictions but more on basics of western astrology. The book starts and continues with basic topics which include – signs, sun, moon, ascendant, inner planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars), Social Planets (Jupiter and Saturn), Outer planets (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto), houses and aspects. Once all the topics are covered it ends by weaving all the things together as how to interpret natal charts and the use of aspects. The information on the use of aspects / predictive science is just limited to two short chapters. But it gives you enough to make a start.

If you are intermediate and advanced reader – it might get a bit boring and be a drag to finish – but still there will be something new to learn, The book ends with Glossary of all astrological terms. The book has a good set of illustrations.
One of the drawback of the book is that it completely misses out on nuances in astrology. The chapters on prediction – reading charts, aspects and interpretations are a bit limited and way too superficial.
It does gives beginner’s a few concrete steps in proceeding with interpreting a birth chart but it lacks the depth.
A wonderful and must read for the beginner in western astrology. If you are just interested in how can I predict the book falls short on it.
Overall a good book to get your beaks wet in the field of astrology.
